Summer Lovin

We, on the west coast, are being teased with summer big time.  This past weekend we were celebrating beach days with 80 degree temps.  I know that across the board, from east to west, many are experiencing pretty mild weather.  Although I wouldn’t put all of our winter clothes away just yet,  it’s not a bad idea to start thinking about our summer closets.

The longer days, the warmer nights and a more laid back lifestyle can’t come soon enough.  Maybe the “laid back” lifestyle is just me envisioning the Maldives.  Anyway, it’s no doubt that summer living dictates what we wear.  Having a well rounded wardrobe is key to making old essentials work with new additions.  A fresh face and no fuss hair completes any summer jaunt, in our own heads or otherwise.  Hang in there, summer is almost here. xoxo

Having an unlimited supply of tanks is a must.  Alexander Wang is always a winner, but I’m really loving the light fabric of Kain tees at the moment…work those arms girls.

There’s nothing that says summer more like a Tory Burch tunic.  Like the one above, it can be worn over your triangle bikini for a more modest cover up, or with a cool pair of cut off’s and gladiators.

Speaking of gladiators…they’re nothing new but adds that “coolness” that a flip flop cannot.

Long skirts are my must have for the summer.  It’s a good alternative to the maxi dress.  This Thakoon Addition style is what i’ll be sporting soon.

I’m still a fan of the 70’s flare.  Worn with a wedge and a Kain tank (like above) is a cool way to run errands.

A great addition, if you haven’t already, is a crisp white blazer.  Although a little difficult to keep clean, it’s incredibly versatile and can be worn with just about anything.

White Footwear!…Really!?

Alexander Wang’s Spring Show

Lately bloggers, stylist and editors have been raving about white footwear.  Holy cow, really!  I know that everything old is made new again (80’s anyone?), but honestly, white shoes? Ever since Alexander Wang walked his models down in his white heels, fashionista’s are a buzzing.  No doubt that Alexander’s shoe is amazing, the shape and texture of it is beautiful, I’m just not a fan of bringing back the lace bow on our heads either (if you know what I mean.)  Know that this is a trend that may last the spring season, but I don’t think it’ll travel much further than that.  The saving grace, for me anyway, is that Alexander’s heels are made in a variety of darker colors, now there’s a purchase worth saving for.  xoxo

Beautiful shoe, just not my thing.

This I can get behind and justify…beautiful!

Obviously white worn right c’est tres chic.

Trend Report

So I’ve been without my computer all week.  Today is the first day since Monday that I’ve been able to blog.  I feel like my right arm has been returned to me.  Anyway, happy to be back sharing!;).

What girl doesn’t love accessories!?  From diamonds to spikes, accessories are such a fun way to show individuality.  Lately, multiple dainty rings is the go to trend.  Honestly, it’s really nothing “new”, but simple gold bands and feminine diamond eternity rings brings a feminine “coolness” that’s had a re-surgence.  From your index finger to your pinky, dress up your extremities and hit the town.  xoxo

Dream Home

When Lisa Ling and her physician husband decided to build their dream home, they turned to eco-friendly architect Marco DiMaccio of Punchouse Ecodesign Group.  This house is amazing.  Open, clean lined and most importantly, environmentally sound.  In dreaming of building our own home in the future, this is exactly what I envision.  xoxo

Going Long…

I’m fighting a case of boredom.  Lately I’ve been completely uninspired by fashion.  Somewhere between color blocking and the 70’s revival I’ve become bored.  It really does seem like the industry in general has run out of ideas.  There’s never been a better time to shop our closets.  If the fashion industry can re-invent every god forsaken trend (hello neon), then we can too with a few tweaks.

Right now I’m really loving maxi skirts.  I know that they can look a bit “Little House on the Prairie-ish”, but worn with a tank and updated with gladiator sandals makes a cute, laid back statement.  Keep in mind that unless you are 6ft tall, working with proportions is key. Tucking in your blouse or tank allows for your body to hold it’s shape.  More than likely altering the length will be a must, so know that from the get you’ll have to make a small investment.  Whether a stroll on the beach or a laid back Sunday brunch, the maxi should take you well into September.  xoxo

Last night at the Golden Globes we saw some definite trends.  Color took a back seat, bright lips made an appearance and headbands helped make a statement.  Headbands are a great trend to carry through into spring and summer.  It’s an easy way to help a grow out and/or a bad hair day.  I love the ease of a ponytail held back by a simple band. Whether it’s a casual dinner with your beau or a red carpet event, a headband can give a simple elegance that says, chic.  xoxo
