When I was 10 years old my favorite thing to wear was a plaid skirt with a plaid vest. I know not exactly Vogue worthy, but as a pre-teen it made me feel, “sophisticated,” LOL. Anyway, the days of wearing head to toe plaid are over, but a cute jacket, funky pants or even the over the top shoe can bring back the school girl innocence.
Plaid, for me, is a cold weather print. Probably because for plaid to look “right”, darker colors are a must. With the burgundies, browns and rich blues and greens being shown for fall, it’s a perfect season to throw a few checks in the mix. Whether your simple or over the top in your pairing, be smart with your purchase. A little goes a long way. xoxo
The August issue of Tatler Russia features New York beauty Olivia Palermo. It’s no secret I find her style beautiful and classic, and the pages of Tatler do not disappoint. From her loosely tied chignon to her colorful wardrobe, she was styled perfectly by Nirave Sanchez. Whether being dressed for a magazine, or just running the streets of New York with model boyfriend Johannes Huebl, Olivia definitely knows how to make a statement. Happy Friday! xoxo
Out and about with Johannes
Chanel recently released their fall nail colors. With the color palette being more muted for fall, nails are primed to go darker as well. From grey to eggplant, darker, sultry colors are making their way back.
Being that we’re still in the dead of summer, jumping to how our nails will be “dressed” in fall, is not really appealing to me at the moment. I know that we’re all probably close to the end of our rope with bright, neon colors, but taking one last hurrah on the color wheel is still well within the fashion etiquette. The next time you’re in the mood to spread a little sunshine, swipe some orange on to your fingertips, it’ll definitely keep summer shining. xoxo
Chanel Holiday…Looks red but comes out orange.
Orange easily transitions into fall. Keep it subtle and classy.
Olivia seems to always stay in shades of orange and red.
Chanel fall 2012 colors…In case you’re just over brights!
My latest obsession are motorcycle jackets. I seem to always cycle back to a “mad max” state of mind. The last few season’s we’ve seen blazers, anorak’s and denim jackets take center stage. Although moto jackets don’t seem to loose their steam in fashion, sometimes they can come off a bit “heavy.” We’ve had some amazing jackets shine in past seasons, Phoebe Philo for Celine, Burberry with stand out shearling and leather pieces, and Balenciaga updated their jackets in 2011 by adding a diamond quilt design into the mix. “Roughing” up your style might not be for everyone, but a motorcycle jacket is another one of those investments that when purchased wisely, will last you decades. Vroom Vroom. xoxo
Long are the days that Little House on the Prairie had the only hold on florals. Patterns have obviously taken center stage in the world of fashion, but more specifically florals have taken an anywhere, anyhow approach. It’s a no holds bar when it comes to pairing florals. Whether worn from head to toe, or just a sprinkle of petals, florals give a feminine and youthful point of view. I’m thinking this is a trend that will not be long lived, but a bright Forever 21 purchase would suffice the gardner inside. xoxo
Red has always been a favorite color of mine. It’s bold, vibrant, and there’s no doubt red is an attention getter. Fall will soon be approaching, and red is at the top of the list. I know it’s too early to start gearing up for fall, when every state seems to be in a heat wave, but here’s some inspiration to start the juices flowing. Happy Wednesday. xoxo
Our options for clothes has become endless. In a sea of colors, cuts and textures, making a decision on what to wear day to day can sometimes be overwhelming. Getting back to basics is often a needed relief. There’s nothing more basic, or classic, than a crisp white mens shirt. It’s never dated and so easily paired with anything that you may have in your closet. The next time you’re staring aimlessly into your cave of “nothingness”, pull out your husbands shirt, roll up the sleeves and throw on a drawer full of accessories. Guaranteed you’ll look amazing. xoxo
When you think of edgy, Valentino doesn’t necessarily come to mind. But recently with their studded, rock and roll accessories, edgy has suddenly become the fashion house’s stomping ground. Their studded clutches are amazing. Not only can they be worn anywhere from the Oscar’s to the Grammy’s, they are functional and proportionately flattering.
What I love about clutches is that it forces you to get by with just the necessities. I know we think we need everything from water to running shoes in our bags, after all the world may be coming to an end at any moment. But honestly…if using a clutch for day sends you into a panic, at least give the sac a rest for evening. xoxo
This is so hot!^
Love the exotics.
Another great clutch/bag that has a similar vibe is the PS11 bag by Proenza Schouler. A bit different in that it has a long strap, but hot nonetheless.
Here it is in clutch form.
