A trend we’ve been seeing, and more so lately during Paris fashion week, is oversizing.  From boyfriend cardigans to oversized coats, supersized clothing is making a statement.  I love a soft, comfy, lived in sweater.  Layered over a tee with skinnies, a classic “lady” dress or a menswear inspired look, it is such an easy go to style that has miles of wear.  Keep some refinement when layering, relaxed fit is one thing, bag lady is another.  xoxo

Killing me Softly

This humid, hot weather at the end of September is killing me.  With fall officially starting this past weekend, I wish mother nature would have followed suit.  Stores are packed to the gills with sweaters, leathers and boots, and us in California are still wearing our beach-ing best…Over it!

Anyway, it will eventually become cold and it will literally happen from one day to the next.  So being prepared in having a bit of winter in your closet is key to not looking like a fish out of water.  Here is some inspiration to get you in the mood for chilly days and frothy nights.  xoxo

London Calling

London fashion week has just ended and Milan is underway.  Right now fashion is moving like it’s on crack and Paris fashion week is on the horizon.  Each week has it’s own street style and one isn’t better than the next.  London has always been know for their edgy vibe and LFW was no different.  From leather to white pumps, London brought their A game.  I love how fashion is just a free for all right now.  Whether you’re wearing a t-shirt underneath a strapless cocktail dress, or buzzing in a classic white pant suit, fashion is all about confidence and people are working it! xoxo

Military inspired fashions cycles it’s way through like it’s own era.  Designers seem to be  more inspired to use it during times of war.  I’m sure the constant coverage of special forces activity has something to do with it.  The last few season we’ve seen a lot of military green anorak’s, cargo pants and even dog tag like accessories hitting the streets.  For fall all the same trends are still relevant with even more trending towards camouflage.

Camouflage is a very masculine print, so easing it’s edges is key when adding it to your wardrobe.  A classic pointy pump, a bold rhinestone necklace or a beautiful feminine dress are all good pairings with camo.  In any case, ooh-rah to our amazing marines and hats off to our special forces.  Who would of thought that you guys would be influencing fashion!?. xoxo

Backstage Beauty

The shows have ended and Lincoln Center, by tomorrow morning, will be back to business as usual.  Spring/Summer 2013 was filled with joyful color, femininity and overall beauty.  I for one, regardless of trends or “it” moments, am always about pretty, and NYFW s/s 2013 was just that.

Backstage, the make up artists and hair stylists followed suit.  Even though there were some edgy moments, a la Proneza Schouler and Alexander Wang, the reign of classic beauty prevailed.  Simple ponytails, rosy bee stung lips and a natural glowing glow took center stage.  One other re-emerging trend, is the move back to nude and pale pink nails.  Although it’s difficult to be thinking of spring, feeling like we haven’t said goodbye summer yet, spring 2013 looks to be a “happy” one.  Now, lets hear it for FALL! xoxo

Pale Nails

Alexander Wang…A bit edgy with no eyebrows, but skin looks flawless

Stylin Profile-n

Marissa Webb was head of women’s design at JCrew for about 10 years.  Earlier this year she decided to venture out on her own and showcase her new line in a presentation during NYFW S/S 2013.  I was most excited to see what her pieces consisted of being that her esthetic is a lot of what I fancy.  She didn’t disappoint one bit.  The mix of hard and soft masculine and feminine, leather and silk was exactly what I was hoping for.  I’m looking forward to her line hitting the stores, there are a few pieces with my name on it.  xoxo

Love this leather vest

The hair and simplicity of the make up is beautiful

Street Smarts…

New York fashion week is well on it’s way and there have been some amazing shows.  Rebecca Minkoff, Edun and Rag and Bone just to name a few.  Even though it’s so much fun to see what the next trends are coming down the runway, it’s always the fashions on the street that I long to see.  New York has been hot and humid and that always makes it difficult to dress, but the fashion elite haven’t disappointed.  Here’s a quick look at bloggers, models, socialites and editors given us their best.  xoxo
