Red, Red, Wine

I’m completely in love with the chicness of burgundy.  There’s something quite regal about this rich, bold color.  Burgundy is the color of fall and undoubtably, above all the jewel tones, the color of the season.  Worn with anything from whites to black, this striking color adds the warmth and richness that fall embodies.  Whether you’re on the edgy side or the classic scale, burgundy is the easiest color to take you there.  xoxo

The Tortoise and the Hair

Every season, like fashion, accessories have their moments.  In the quest for the perfect pair of sunglasses, trends come and go but regardless of what’s “in,” a good pair remains a good pair.  For the last 4 years I personally haven’t strayed away from my ray bans.  It’s difficult to spend good money on a pair that will be thrown to the ground by a toddler.  But recently I find myself searching again for that perfect frame.

Lately I’m all about tortoise shell.  I love the soft coloring and regardless of hair color it’s a universally flattering shade.  Black tends to be a much edgier color on the face, the soft browns and caramels adds a “ladylike” feminine vibe that’s very appealing.  Now, finding the right style frame…is a whole other animal.  xoxo

Connect the Dots

With all the emphasis on bright bold colors and color blocking in recent months, I’m kind of feeling more of a retro vibe.  My attention keeps being pulled toward polka dots.  The polka dot trend isn’t really anything new, but it definitely gives a break to all the color we keep seeing.

Fall is big with deep jewel tones.  The burgundies, forest greens and dark navy’s are all falls best.  A navy and white polka dot blouse is a great addition to any one of the these color trends.  Whether a pop of dot in your accessories or a head to toe pulled look, throw some dots into your mix.  xoxo

Call of The Wild

Growing up, anything animal print was pretty much a big fat “No” in my book.  That was a time when Peg Bundy ruled the air waves, so lets just say that zebra/leopard had a certain visual attached to it.  As the years have passed I’ve grown to love anything “wild.”  It’s fun, chic and sometimes totally unexpected.  Leopard is the easy go to, but zebra is making it’s way up to the front of the pack.  I would say to still use a little restraint when you want to pony up, but in the end have fun with it.  Fall is the perfect time of year to heed the call.  xoxo

Margiela Madness

Maison Martin Margiela has finally arrived at H&M.  Best known for his avant garde style, his collection for everyday mortals like us hits the stores in a big way.  His style and esthetic aren’t for everyone.  Margiela uses a lot of drape with unusual angles and his unconventional beauty isn’t something that’s always understood.  Being 5’3 sometimes makes it difficult to not look like a drowning rat his clothes, but a coat, a funky pair of pants or even a great skirt can definitely be added to anyones wardrobe.  Here’s a look at some of my favorite pieces from the collection.  xoxo

Love, Love these trousers!

Here are the pants again with a great jacket.  The jacket worn on it’s own with a pair of skinnies would be amazing for us petite girls.

Suit Up!

Men in suits no doubt look distinguished, polished and sexy.  I’m not quite sure if my personal style could carry off such a conservative look, but I find suits on women just as classic and sexy as men.  Although I’m a huge fan of women in masculine clothes, sometimes the lines of a suit take it a bit further than what I’m personally comfortable wearing.

In bringing some femininity into a suit look, I love big chunky necklaces, deep v necks without blouses and of course a beautiful shoe.  Cropping the pants, throwing your jacket over your shoulders and bringing in a bright feminine color adds to the appeal of wearing a suit.  Whether in the work place or a night out on the town, a beautifully tailored suit is a “can’t go wrong” option.  xoxo

Although technically not a suit, you can’t go wrong with all black

Keeping the Glow

We’re finally seeing fall temps across the coasts.  I for one am happy to leave the cutoffs behind and start wearing a proper fall wardrobe.  The one thing i’ll miss is that summer glow.  Although we know better than to sunbathe, we seem to always want the “healthy” tan…a fake glow is the way to go.

Chanel recently released a special edition compact featuring shimmery bronze and gold tones.  My favorite, distributed by Kevyn Aucoin, features a more classic bronzer with a hint of shimmer.  Keep your brush strokes light when applying bronzer.  Sun-kissed skin doesn’t translate to a burnt brownie.;)  xoxo
