Street-Style-New-York-Fashion-Week-FW13-suede-bootsWe’ve definitely entered into boot season.  Almost overnight, we’ve finally transitioned into the season that is.  Boots are a staple to any winter wardrobe, but making the decision of short or long can be, at best, confusing.  Regardless of what your personal choice may be, make sure your boot is functional.  Over the knee boots can make it hard to bend your knees, stiletto platforms can cause a “tiiimber” affect and peep toe booties may pose a flooding problem walking in the rain.

I personally am partial to a great bootie.  Not only do they provide a bit of warmth, but because I’m vertically challenged, ankle booties can elongate the leg rather than cutting it off at the knee.  Do your research when searching for the perfect pair.  At hundreds of dollars you really don’t want it to be a one season impulse buy.  Happy Hump Day!  xoxo

Round and Round

Hot-or-not-round-sunglasses-inspiration-outfits-style-com-520x356I went shopping with a girlfriend today, and even though I blog about fashion and help clients shop for the “perfect” something, I rarely get to shop for shopping’s sake.  So today we went out, spent a few hours looking at everything from women’s handbags to mens shoes.  I was on a mission for a wardrobe pick me up but of course had the “I can’t find anything” moment.  On our way out I wanted to stop by the sunglasses.  As you know, from reading my blogs, I’ve been searching for a new pair for what seems like years.  My trusted Ray Ban aviators haven’t left my face for about 5.  Stopping by the display I wasn’t expecting much.  It seems like every time I’m in search of a perfect pair nothing measure’s up and I leave with my Ray Ban’s on.  But today was my lucky day!

Lately I’ve been drawn to a corky, round shaped frame.  Not so severe as maybe John Lennon, but nevertheless and rounded hipster vibe.  Barton Perreira was showcasing her spring 2014 styles and I finally found a new friend.  Round frames are very stylized and maybe not for everyone, but I’m loving this current trend.  xoxo

Black on Black

When In Rome…

milan-street-6-5_150733954011.jpg_article_singleimageBeing in Italy all week has definitely allowed me to see things differently.  The food, the wine, the culture, is all bred in living vs just surviving.  Long dinners with family and friends takes precedence over the “in and out” American way.

Fashion and style is another glaring difference between the two cultures.  Taking New York out of the equation, because I truly believe it has become the fashion capitol, Italians love to dress.  Whether it’s meeting friends at the local cafe for a cappuccino or taking long walks in the park, Italians take pride in how they look and they make their love for fashion known.  It has been amazing taking part in a different culture and I will take away lessons that will live inside me forever.  xoxo

Beauty in Blues

denim9Fashion is a revolving door of trends.  I guess Project Runway got it right when they coined, “one day you’re in, the next day you’re out.”  Knowing that, styling is what becomes important.  Keeping up with the trends is a loosing battle, and one that the fashion industry depends on to keep it profitable.  No doubt that updating a wardrobe is necessary, but knowing what works for you and playing with what’s in your closet is really where the creativity happens.

Denim is a fashion staple and for the “everyday” woman it’s our go to necessity.  Falling into a rut is common, especially with denim, but it’s also the most user friendly and versatile.  Here is some tuesday inspiration to maybe lift that “jeans again” feeling.
