A common trend of last nights Golden Globes has to be the blunt cut. From Reese Witherspoon to Naomi Watts, quite a few celebrities sported their version of a bob. Long hair has taken center stage for what seems like forever, but lately we’ve seen some daring “chopping” going on. Pamela Anderson, Jennifer Lawrence and Karlie Kloss just to name a few. I wouldn’t necessarily call a blunt cut daring, but it’s nice to finally see something other than long and straight. Happy Monday! xoxo
Monday night was the annual Met Ball Gala. This night celebrates the annual opening of the Metropolitan Museum‘s fashion exhibit at the Costume Institute. It’s no secret that the gala is the Oscars of the fashion world and this year was no exception. The theme was punk rock, so as you can imagine not a whole lot was held back. Regardless of what you may think of the fashions on this night, one thing you can’t deny is the commitment to rock! xoxo
Gwyneth Paltrow has a new cookbook coming out, It’s All Good. Not everyone I talk with is a huge fan of Gwyneth and her cookbooks. I personally love her and her books. She has some “hang ups” about food and lifestyle choices that critics, media and the public feel a need to comment on, constantly, but honestly who lives “hang up” free? She’s as real and honest as she chooses to be and I for one can admire her for that. In reality we’re all doing the best we can, it’s just, good or bad, she chooses to do it in the public eye. Regardless of what you may think of Gwyneth, she’s a capable woman and a loving mom and who can fault her for that. You go Gwyneth, you do your thing! xoxo
Lately my obsession has turned to tank tops. I know at the moment it’s 20 degrees, but tanks keep calling my name. I love them paired with anything from pencil skirts to leather leggings and everything in between. I find shoulders to be so sexy on women and add a peek of the upper back and you’ve got a home run. We still have a couple of months covered up under fabric, but I’m daring to bare sooner rather than later. xoxo
Just recently it was announced that Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin purchased a house in LA. Well, pictures have surfaced and it’s absolutely beautiful. The Windsor house, designed by Windsor Smith, is an amazing concept house in the canyons of Los Angeles. Although Gwyneth probably won’t keep the furnishings as they are, the details of the house are enough to make anyone swoon.
The reclaimed floors through out the house, the walls of endless windows and doors, and the most beautiful kitchen with it’s character of modern/rustic, is perfection. When I look at their grounds of greenery, pebbled driveway and cozy patio sections, it makes me excited for the day that we can bring our vision to fruition in a home. Enjoy! xoxo
Color blocking, as we know, became a huge trend and now we see shoes taking a lesson in blocking. Recently Gwyneth [Paltrow] was photographed wearing a great pair of teal pumps with a silver toe cap. Although not technically “color blocking”, the silver cap gives the same affect. Not only are they cute, but it’s a trendy change to the ever conservative pump. Chanel has been doing color blocked pumps and flats for decades, so it’s nice to know that a trendy purchase now can recycle itself in the future. xoxo
Gwyneth looking amazing
Embellished with studs and stones
Old Navy flats. Doesn’t cost a fortune to achieve a trend.
Thought I’d throw in a Flashy backsides
I went in today to have my eyebrows done, (Anastasia Beverly Hills) Alex worked on me, and she looked so cute in her summer ensemble. Although what she had on was nothing “new”, she still looked incredibly cute in her bright red skinnies and a blue nautical striped top. It made me think that even though we’ve seen stripes, consistently, for the past 3 or more years, shopping our closets is always the way to go.
With Memorial Day right around the corner, highlighting stripes, I thought, would be appropriate. Fashion icons like Jane Birkin and Jacqueline Kennedy, to present day fashionistas Gwyneth Paltrow and Olivia Palermo, all have and continue to look amazing in their yacht worthy stripes. You may have a few pieces buried in your closet from season’s past, and now it’s their time to set sail again! Happy Memorial Day! xoxo
