No Make-Up, Make-Up

096c242934c580060dc99e4c2b2b5ca5As we’re heading into summer there are many changes that take place. Our pace slows a bit, closets get a re-vamp and beauty regimens are tweaked to accommodate oilier skin and frizzy hair. With the higher temps, make up tends to melt and become cumbersome, so the no make up, make up not only is ideal but almost necessary to not end up looking like a pancake face.

Trying to keep our skin clear of blemishes and controlling the oil is usually the goal. Finding an oil free cleanser and exfoliating at least twice a week is key. Once we find a cleansing programing that works, we want to enhance our complexion with a minimal amount of product. BB creams are the best choice over any heavy foundation. They even out complexions and add a healthful glow that works well when we’re carrying around a bit more sun. Finishing the look with mascara, a creme blush, and lip balm will enhance our natural beauty and carry us through august. Have a great week! xoxo

We Like it, Hot Hot Hot

tumblr_lxtruvpq9G1r1j3wdo1_500Bright lips is the trend of the hour.  Cheeks and eyes are also having a moment, but let’s not too get excited and put them all together. 😉  Adding bright color to the face is a pretty pick me up.  Spring and Summer already adds more of a glow to our skin, so by adding some brights into the palette, can give us a youthful vibe.  Not everyone will fall in love with with the neon glows, but play around a bit there is a shade for everyone.  Happy weekend! xoxo

All That Glitters

With fashion week heading into it’s 7th day we’ve seen some great shows.  Derek Lam showcased an amazing navy fur vest that I’m coveting, and of course Alexander Wang didn’t disappoint with his tribute to, my favorite palette, black and grey.  It’s so much fun watching the fashions come down the runway and the high that is felt after the shows, buzzing about what piece is a “must have,” is exhilarating.

In completing a designers vision, hair and make-up is so important for pulling a look together, and honestly one of my favorite things to anticipate.  From theatrical to classic, we see it all on the catwalk and translating it into everyday living is where our creativity comes in.  Whether we try a literal translation or tone it down to our personal comfort level, every season brings a new palette to help in the re-invention of ourselves, and Fall 2013 is no exception.  xoxo

One of my favorite looks during fashion week…Jason Wu with a strong eye, neutral lip and a center part.

Backstage Beauty

The shows have ended and Lincoln Center, by tomorrow morning, will be back to business as usual.  Spring/Summer 2013 was filled with joyful color, femininity and overall beauty.  I for one, regardless of trends or “it” moments, am always about pretty, and NYFW s/s 2013 was just that.

Backstage, the make up artists and hair stylists followed suit.  Even though there were some edgy moments, a la Proneza Schouler and Alexander Wang, the reign of classic beauty prevailed.  Simple ponytails, rosy bee stung lips and a natural glowing glow took center stage.  One other re-emerging trend, is the move back to nude and pale pink nails.  Although it’s difficult to be thinking of spring, feeling like we haven’t said goodbye summer yet, spring 2013 looks to be a “happy” one.  Now, lets hear it for FALL! xoxo

Pale Nails

Alexander Wang…A bit edgy with no eyebrows, but skin looks flawless
