Old school fashion was plagued with endless rules of what was appropriate, and what was not. Pushing the envelope not only was/is uncomfortable, but could put you in a space of ridicule and snickers. Obviously over the decades freedom of expression has won out, but there still seems to be a bit of conforming to what society poses as cool, it or now.
Lately, for me, conforming to the “rules” has taken a leap out the window. I don’t know if it’s boredom, lack of inspiration (internally and externally) or just plain not caring, but dressing following what Vogue deems worthy is not my guiding factor.
Freedom of expression can be made through many different channels. Wether it’s music, art, the written word or just plain style through dress, expressing yourself should be fun, dynamic and effortlessly achieved. Take a moment and assess where you are in this moment…Is your creative self being expressed? Happy Monday! xoxo
Olivia Palermo, always an individual.
All these women show individual style. Whether classic and clean like Olivia or a bit more unconventional like Maja Wyh, they all look amazing and one of a kind.
Coats have taken center stage this season. It used to be that one good coat would get you through the season(s). But now, we have the “it” accessory in all types of textiles, cuts, colors and styles. Living in Southern California, makes it difficult to splurge on an expensive coat. Our weather never really gets so cold, that a thick winter coat is necessary. Yesterday, for example, was almost 80 degrees. Yes 80, and it was the first day of December.
A great alternative to a big winter coat is a cool, multi functional parka. Not only is it easy to layer up, it usually comes with a detachable lining and hood, which makes it a year around coat, and for us, a better value. No doubt every closet can use that statement coat, but a parka may be all the statement you need to make. Happy cyber Monday! xoxo
2,4,6,8 who do we appreciate!… When we think of pom pom’s, cheerleader’s are the next vision that pops up. Although those days are long gone, L.K. Bennett has designed a shoe that has brought back a nostalgic view of pom poms. With a touch of ethnic flare and a whole lot of free spirit fun, these pumps are the next best thing to high kicking.;) Have a great weekend. xoxo
Olivia Palermo can make a paper bag look cool.
The look of the moment has no doubt moved from long flowing locks, to an edgier take of the conservative bob. With razor cut edges and choppy layers, the bob is no longer the mini van, mom look. Shorter hair can be so much more fashion forward than the traditional, but sexy longer hair styles. The only draw back in keeping a shorter do fresh is the frequent trims that are necessary for short hair. Although going short can cause a bit a panic at the moment of truth, in the end hair is hair and no change is permanent. xoxo
Every season, like fashion, accessories have their moments. In the quest for the perfect pair of sunglasses, trends come and go but regardless of what’s “in,” a good pair remains a good pair. For the last 4 years I personally haven’t strayed away from my ray bans. It’s difficult to spend good money on a pair that will be thrown to the ground by a toddler. But recently I find myself searching again for that perfect frame.
Lately I’m all about tortoise shell. I love the soft coloring and regardless of hair color it’s a universally flattering shade. Black tends to be a much edgier color on the face, the soft browns and caramels adds a “ladylike” feminine vibe that’s very appealing. Now, finding the right style frame…is a whole other animal. xoxo

London fashion week has just ended and Milan is underway. Right now fashion is moving like it’s on crack and Paris fashion week is on the horizon. Each week has it’s own street style and one isn’t better than the next. London has always been know for their edgy vibe and LFW was no different. From leather to white pumps, London brought their A game. I love how fashion is just a free for all right now. Whether you’re wearing a t-shirt underneath a strapless cocktail dress, or buzzing in a classic white pant suit, fashion is all about confidence and people are working it! xoxo

With so much color taking center stage, I just want to get back in black. There’s no color more classic, more versatile or more chic. We’ve made it to hump day, here’s a little mid-week inspiration. xoxo
