If you believe everything that you hear, you would of thrown out all of your denim because “denim is out”. Last year, according to NBC news, The Today Show and even the WSJ all reported that denim has seen their day and that the yoga pant was replacing them…blah, blah, blah. Thankfully, I believe it to not be the case and denim has even had an up tick with vintage levis leading the charge.
Denim has definitely evolved over the past 10+ years. Some of that evolution has been life changing and some of the change has stripped away the classic styling of what denim was. Even though the introduction of elastane was an amazing push forward, I find the non denim, “denim” fabrics to be underwhelming. The big denim brands, JBrand, AG, Rag and Bone etc have kind of hit a plateau. I find the fabrics monotonous and boring and the fit just to be okay. I’m not sure where the next big denim trend will be coming from, but for now I find myself reaching for my trusted, 100 % real denim, vintage levis. Happy Tuesday! xoxo
It’s been hot!, is in understatement. When it reaches over 80 degrees at the beaches you know we’re in a heat wave. For anyone that knows me, it’s well known that my closet is draped in black. Although it’s sprinkled with grey’s and navy’s, there isn’t a whole lot of deviation from the trusted darks. With that said, when the days are what they have been, reaching for a white toga sounds pretty good.
Nothing says summer more than beautiful crisp, clean white pieces. Not only does it keep us relatively cool, but white has an ease and sexiness that looks incredible on glowing tanned skin. I would definitely say that white can bring out some insecurities when it comes to showing flaws, but a sexy cami, a knee length skirt and a pair of great gladiators is a fool proof combo for any shape and size. Enjoy the last few weeks of summer! xoxo
Summer is in full bloom. The longer days, outdoor grilling and a more laid back lifestyle has me feeling like “I’m living the dream” lol. The flip side to living in lala land in my head, is the reality of frizzy hair, oily skin and hiding under hats and sunscreen trying to avoid the skin damaging rays.
Just this week the EWG (environmental working group) released their findings on sunscreen. And among the worsts one’s (causing more damage and being carcinogenic) were those we’ve come to trust over the years. Neutrogena, Coppertone and Banana Boat were at the top of the, do not use list.
I’ve been one to always buy Neutrogena, especially for my husband, so I quickly threw all those out and looked for what brands were safe and effective. Luckily what I wear and what my child wears was at the top of the “yes” list. So I’m hear to share with you my go to’s. Living in California, sunscreen is a year round endeavor. But unknowingly poisoning ourselves, obviously isn’t an option. Have a great tuesday! xoxoLove Anthelios products. Beach days don’t happen without them.
Elta MD is what I wear everyday without fail regardless of the season.
And it’s no secret that I love everything in the Honest line. My son doesn’t leave the house without their sunscreen all over his body.
Summer sales are in full effect. Not only can you find “wear now” bargains, but there are many transition pieces that you can find at a fraction of the cost. Be smart with your purchases, look for holes in your closet that need to be filled. Light cashmere’s and layering pieces are always smart buys, platform flip flops on the other hand…keep moving. My dad always taught me, “you can go broke buying sales”, so don’t loose all your marbles when you see SALE! Happy Monday, xoxo.
Lately I’ve been all about lace. Being that I’m not a girlie girl, lace has never really called my name. But as of recently, and coming from a place of juxtaposition, I’m loving lace with old vintage levis, of course the standard leather pants and maybe even a pair of distressed cords. Lace has changed it’s stripes a bit. I’m not so sure it’s the “good girl” anymore. Have a great weekend! xoxo
As we’re heading into summer there are many changes that take place. Our pace slows a bit, closets get a re-vamp and beauty regimens are tweaked to accommodate oilier skin and frizzy hair. With the higher temps, make up tends to melt and become cumbersome, so the no make up, make up not only is ideal but almost necessary to not end up looking like a pancake face.
Trying to keep our skin clear of blemishes and controlling the oil is usually the goal. Finding an oil free cleanser and exfoliating at least twice a week is key. Once we find a cleansing programing that works, we want to enhance our complexion with a minimal amount of product. BB creamsare the best choice over any heavy foundation. They even out complexions and add a healthful glow that works well when we’re carrying around a bit more sun. Finishing the look with mascara, a creme blush, and lip balm will enhance our natural beauty and carry us through august. Have a great week! xoxo
As we’re getting ready to start the process of building/remodeling, my closeted interior design side starts going into overdrive. There’s a lot of excitement living inside me right now, but I’d be lying if I told you my anxiety hasn’t kicked up a bit. I have to keep reminding myself that this is a slow process, so with that, enjoying the journey is my goal. Many changes have taken place since the beginning of the year and it looks like I’ll be living in a state a flux for a time to come. In the meantime, studying interiors and architecture will be my obsession. Who knows…Show and Tell Me Design could be brewing for the future. 😉 Happy Hump Day! xoxo
Black accents with brass fixtures are everything to me right now.
For the last couple of seasons long, pointed, dragon like nails have been the shape of the moment. I personally cannot go there, not only because the safety of my child comes first, but being able to wipe my butt is important to me! Ridiculous trends come and go and I’m happy to see this one go. It looks like the more understated square/round shape is making it’s way back. Although I’m not sure it ever left, as you can never go wrong with a clean, classic line.
Whether you tend to keep your manicure neutral or like to add some color, my eye at the moment is loving a bright candy apple red. Polishes have gone under a big transformation in the last decade. Taking out formaldehyde and other toxic chemicals has been a priority.
RGB nail care has done just that in eliminating 5 toxins. No formaldehyde, No Toluene, No DBP, No camphor and No formaldehyde resin. They even go a step further by being vegan, cruelty free, gluten free and responsibly made in the U.S.A. Not only have they made their brand appealing to a thoughtful consumer, they also make a killer red. Check it out. Happy Hump Day! xoxo
